
            Contest is held each year in the court of an ancient kingdom - of which "panditji" the court singer is the successive winner and as a result is provided a mansion, wealth and a dagger for self protection (and may use it once for self protection).
One day he meets traveling singer "khan saheb" and invites him to participate in the contest. Khan saheb contests and looses each year and is mocked by the public, but this only increases endeavor to win and a hatred for panditji.

Khans wife gives poison to "panditji" and he looses his voice - that year khan performs well and there is no contest. khan gets the post of court singer. Sadashiv unable to learn from "panditji" is told to become the student of khan, but instead he begins secretly listening to khan singing so as to defeat him and is caught and in the proceeding contest sadashiv looses and becomes the slave of khan. as a result gets to hear his singing daily and once he is found practicing khans style and is removed from the house.
In the next yearly contest sadashiv contests against khan in panditjis style but cannot win and therefore switches to khans style. khan prevents the contest from continuing, saying that sadashiv is a thief and demands his right of using the dagger "in self defense as sangit is his life and is in danger". he is permitted but the minister says that sadashiv should get a last wish and sadashiv asks to sing before both his teachers what they have taught him. sadashiv sings a new style combination of both panditji and khans - gharanas. khan is moved, sees his own ungratefulness to panditji and hatred and throws away the dagger.

            Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate; colors, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks and neatness. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class.When he gets into far more trouble than his parents can handle, he is packed off to a boarding school to be disciplined. Things are no different at his new school, and Ishaan has to contend with the added trauma of separation from his family.One day a new art teacher bursts onto the scene, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), who infects the students with joy and optimism. He breaks all the rules of how things are done by asking them to think, dream and imagine, and all the children respond with enthusiasm, all except Ishaan. Nikumbh soon realizes that Ishaan is very unhappy, and he sets out to discover why. With time, patience and care, he ultimately helps Ishaan find himself.

            At the beginning of the film, Kabir (Abhay Deol) proposes to Natasha (Kalki Koechlin). Their families meet at the engagement party. At the party, Natasha learns that Kabir is planning a three-week bachelor road trip to Spain with his school friends Imraan (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun (Hrithik Roshan). Kabir explains that the three have a long-standing pact, and that during the road trip, each of them will have to pick an adventure sport, which all three will try together. Initially, Arjun is reluctant to take part in the trip due to his workaholism and obsession with money. It is later revealed that Arjun's ex-girlfriend left him due to this reason. Imraan has an additional personal agenda on the tripto find his biological father Salman Habib (Naseeruddin Shah), an artist in Spain.The trio set off to Spain, where they plan to visit Costa Brava, Seville, and Pamplona. On the way to Costa Brava, Imraan and Kabir find it annoying that Arjun works even during the trip. Imran casually throws Arjun's phone out of their car while he was in the middle of an important call. This leads to a misunderstanding, which ends up in a violent argument. Arjun, in a fit of rage, accuses Imraan of having an affair, four years back, with Arjun's previous girlfriend (a topic which was very sensitive both to Arjun and Imraan). After getting consoled by Kabir and reaching their destination, they meet an Indian American named Laila (Katrina Kaif) in a beach. Imraan flirts with her and makes Arjun jealous. Kabir reveals that he has chosen deep sea diving as their first sport, and they later find that Laila is their diving instructor. Arjun, who cannot swim and is aquaphobic, receives assistance from Laila. She helps him overcome his fears and finish the sport successfully. Upon a request by Laila, they attend the La Tomatina festival held in Buñol with her and meet Nuria (Ariadna Cabrol). Meanwhile, Natasha becomes suspicious of Kabir's involvement with Laila and crashes his bachelor party trip, much to Kabir's discomfort in front of his friends. Imraan spends time with Nuria, and Arjun with Laila. After the boys leave, Laila realizes she has fallen in love with Arjun and chases them on a bike, not wanting to regret their partition if they don't meet in future. She and Arjun express their feelings for each other with a passionate kiss.On the way to Seville, Kabir drops Natasha at the airport, while Arjun and Imraan notices that something is wrong between her and Kabir. The trio visit Seville for sky diving, as per Arjun's choice. During the task, Imraan is forced to confront his acrophobia and hesitates to take part. However, they complete it without any obstacles. After skydiving, the three men go to a bar and get into a fight with a stranger on whom they had tried to pull a prank. They are jailed after the fight. Salman, Imraan's father, bails them out and takes them to his home. While speaking to Imraan, Salman reveals that he never wanted the responsibility of a married life with kids, while Imraan's mother did, which is why he never contacted Imraan. Imraan, heartbroken, realises how it would have felt when he had hurt Arjun four years back. He earnestly apologises to Arjun, and he readily forgives Imraan.The trio leave for the bull run in Pamplona, which was Imraan's choice. When confronted by his friends, Kabir confesses to Arjun and Imraan that he is still not ready for a marriage, but could not tell this to Natasha as he did not want to hurt her. On the morning of the Bull-run, Imraan suggests they make a pact to make a promise if they survive the event. Imraan vows to publish his poetry (he was secretly a poet), Arjun vows to go to Morocco with Laila to spend the rest of his life with her, and Kabir promises to tell Natasha that he is not ready to marry her. As they complete the event, the friends gain a renewed sense of their relationships with each other, with others they know, and with themselves.As the credits roll, Imraan, Kabir, Nuria and Natasha are shown attending the wedding of Arjun and Laila in Morocco. Kabir and Natasha did not marry, but remain friends.

Dil Chahta Hai


            A mysterious man at a pigeon shelter feeds his pigeons and sets one free. The pigeon flies to the window where nuclear oncologist Dr. Nirupama is in a therapy session as suggested by her friend Bindu. The therapist learns from her that she's unhappy with marriage to her uninteresting and bland husband Vishwanath, who is a dance teacher. Nirupama has recently been in a relationship with her boss Depak, which although having feelings for him also feels guilty about betraying Vishwanath. For this reason under Bindu's advice, she hires a detective named Peter to spy on Viswhanath and find out if he too is having some kind of affair or something else to hide in order to ease her guilt. One night, Vishwanath invites his student Ashmitha Subramaniam, his uncle Jagganath, and his and Jagganath's close friend John Dawkins to brief an unknown mission. Viswhanath confirms that he's somehow aware of Nirupama's affair with Deepak and pretends not to know. Nirupama stays with Deepak at the office late that night and helps him stock up money in his safe, which also contains a gun and thus suggesting caution in his surroundings.The next day Vishwanath and his group do surveillance in the city and Peter follows him after he prays in an Islamic worship place, and the detective discloses this to Nirupama telling him that her husband has hidden his true religion as a Muslim. Viswhanath looses Peter at a trailer complex where he crosses paths with Farukh, a man whom Vishwanath has been tracking for reasons unknown. Farukh becomes suspicious of Peter and kills him. He informs his higher authority Salim, a close friend and partner to the faction's leader Omar Quereshi. They find Peter's diary with information on his clients including Nirupama and that she works for Deepak. Deepak, as instructed by his associates Omar, Salim and Farukh, confronts Nirupama about why she supposedly sent the detective to Farukh. Peter is announced as a murder victim on the news on that night and both Nirupama and Deepak believe Vishwanath has something to do with it, as well as the fact that he lost Peter at the trailer and has hidden that he's Islamic. Deepak calls Farukh and they abduct the couple and take them to a warehouse. Farukh interrogates Vishwanath and demands to know who he is and why he ventured to the trailer park. Vishwanath is uncooperative and seemingly ignorant of the situation, leading to him getting beaten. Under Omar's suspicion and order, Farukh murders Deepak and wonders who Vishwanath really is after Omar seemingly recognizes him from his haunted past. Vishwanath begs Farukh a chance to pray and tricks him into unbinding his hands.Moments after Vishwanath is freed, he gets up and brutally slaughters all the soldiers in the warehouse including Farukh. He and Nirupama escape before Omar and Salim arrive. When the two do arrive, Salim wonders how Vishwanath was possibly able to defeat so many men, and Omar reminds him that he once trained alongside them in the Al Qaeda which Salim remembers. Vishwanath's real name is Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri, an apparent fugitive and traitor of the Indian army who is revered in his fighting skill and persistence and comes to serve as a jihadi under Omar. He becomes close friends with Omar and Salim in Afghanistan at the time and is introduced to the ways of his people, including their dedication to war and the hardships they and their families face during it. He gets to know Omar's family and friends, including the village leader Nasser and a young fellow jihadi Mammu. He also gets to know Kadhija, Omar's wife and Omar's son Nasser(same name as the village leader). Wisam mentors many soldiers and trains them to their extent. Along the way he realizes that families of the soldiers in the group cannot live their lives normally under constant pressure to serve Al Qaeda's cause and attacks by American fronts in the nation. Nasser, Omar's son, wishes to become a doctor inspired by Dr. Glara, who helped Kadhija get better from asthma. Similarly Omar's friend's son Jalal desires to learn engineering and Omar is disappointed in both for having different aspirations than serving Allah. After developing connections to the village, Wisam also comes to know that American forces have been threatening Omar's territory in search of American war hostages that he's keeping. Wisam sees up close the brutality of the soldiers when they murder one of the prisinors. A neighboring village is bombed for it and Omar retaliates by sending Mammu in guise of a woman, carrying bombs to the nearby military base. Mammu kills himself destroying the base, burdening Wisam once more with seeing a young man's life taken.The leaders of the warrior band meet the merchant Thawveeq, a trusted merchant and supplier and good friend of Omar. Thawveeq becomes acquainted with Wisam and gifts him imported opium which he puts away. The next day, Omar, Salim, and Wisam visit Osama Bin Ladin in his hiding place under the village, and at that moment the Americans attack the village. During that time Wisam also meets Munavar who is a spy for the group in Pakistan. The soldiers including head Nasser, Omar, Wisam, and Salim retaliate and fail to defend the civilians from the bombings. The house holding many of them including Jalal, Kadhija, and Nasser(Omar's son) get bombed and the soldiers retreat from the village leaving Wisam behind, who offers to stay behind and see whom he can help. The village leader Nasser also perishes in the attack leading to Omar having to take charge of what remains in the village. In the present, Wisam, Ashmita, Jaganath, and Dawkins preserve their pasts and try to clear confusion to Nirupama. They destroy information devices and drives and evacuate the house when the F.B.I attempts to apprehend them as tipped by Omar for Wisam's history and contribution to the warehouse attacks. Wisam, with little patience has his three friends, sans Dawkins make way to the city to escape the police. Dawkins is sent separately to take guise of Munavar who is tasked to go to an antique shop in order to recover record tapes and prints about a powerful cesium bomb that needs to be planted in the city.Captain Tom Black of the F.B.I arrests Wisam, Nirupama, and Ashmita when they head to the oncology research office. But just before, they find out that Deepak has been supplying Omar and his men with cesium weapons to fulfill their task in a serial bombing in New York. A flashback is seen after Nirupama question's Wisam's past in which it's revealed that Wisam was given a tracking device to lead American forces to Omar's village, thus leading to the air assault. However, Wisam's partner Imtiaz who is also undercover fails to remove it from Thwaveeq's bag where it was placed, leading to him being framed as a spy and beaten and executed, much to Wisam's regret. In the present, the characters confirm that many jihadis including Omar are injured and sick from handling cesium with their bare hands without care. Some patients were resting in the warehouse where they plot to commit a suicide bombing. Wisam, Nirupama, and Ashmita are interrogated by the police who give them a hard time believing they're working with the jihadis, but Jagganath confirms to the leader of the Indian embassy that Wisam is an undercover agent and Tom apologizes. Wisam helps Tom evacuate a school near the warehouse just before the cesium victims bomb the complex, and another bombing takes place at the apartment Omar lived in to divert the police's attention away from a stronger bomb in the middle of the city. As per a plan Omar discussed years prior when Wisam served the Al Qaeda, he attaches pills of cesium to the city's pigeons, killing them and sending radiation detectors haywire. Wisam and Nirupama trace a forgien supply of cesium weaponry to Abasi, a Nigerian customer who works for Omar. Abasi stations himself in an abandoned apartment with a powerful cesium bomb and the F.B.I stake out the complex. They silently infiltrate the building and shoot Abasi before he activates the bomb on Salim's command. Dawkins has obtained the files about the bomb before Munavar but Salim intercepts him and kills him in central park, and he and Omar having finished their work fly to India.Nirupama's knowledge of the bomb allows the police to use a microwave to shield incoming radio waves to prevent cellular detonation. Omar attempts to contact Abasi but Wisam responds on the phone that his plan has failed, leaving Omar and Salim shocked. Wisam is congratulated by the embassy in his work in Afghanistan and ending the assault on New York, and Nirupama believes the battle has been won. But Wisam claims that the war is between him and Omar and one of them must die for that to be true, and the group heads to confront him in India.
    

Vishwaroopam


            Rizwan Khan (Tanay Chheda) is a Muslim child who grew up with his brother Zakir and his mother (Zarina Wahab) in a middle class family in the Borivali section of Mumbai. Rizwan is different from the other children and no one, including his mother, can understand why. However, he has certain gifts, particularly a special ability to repair any machine that is broken. His difference leads to special tutoring from a reclusive scholar and extra attention from his mother. This attention, however, leads to a heightened level of jealousy from his brother Zakir, who eventually leaves his family for a life in the United States.Despite this resentment, as an adult Zakir (Jimmy Shergill) sponsors Rizwan (Shahrukh Khan) to come and live with him in San Francisco. It is at this time that Zakir's psychologist wife, Haseena diagnoses Rizwan as having Asperger's syndrome, a disorder which makes it difficult for people to interact socially. Rizwan also begins to work for Zakir as an herbal salesman and in the process he meets a Hindu woman, Mandira and her young son, Sameer or Sam (Yuvaan Makaar), from a previous marriage. Despite Zakir's hostility to the match, they marry and settle down in the fictional town of Banville, where both Mandira and Samir take Rizwan's last name as their own. They also live next door to the Garrick family. Sam is close with their young son, Reese (Kenton Duty and Michael Arnold) while Mark (Dominic Renda) is a journalist and Sarah (Katie A. Keane) is a friend of Mandira.The Khans' perfect existence gets disrupted, however, after the September 11 attacks on the twin towers in New York City. Mark goes to cover the war in Afghanistan and dies there. At the same time, the Khan family begins to experience post 9-11 prejudice in their community and Reese begins to turn against Sam as well. One afternoon, an argument between them turns into a racially motivated schoolyard fight between Sam and a number of older students. Reese tries to stop the fight but is held back and Sam is injured so badly that he dies. A shattered Mandira blames Rizvan for his death stating that Sam "died only because his name was Khan." She then tells Rizwan that she no longer wants him in her life. When he asks her what he has to do to be a part of her life, she tells him that he has to tell the people of the United States, and the President that his name is Khan and that he is not a terrorist.Rizvan thus sets out on a journey that takes him from one US state to another (including Georgia, where he is befriended by Mama Jenny) in order to first meet President George W. Bush and later Barack Obama. During this quest, he is detained and later freed from the San Francisco Airport. Later, in Los Angeles, he prays in a Mosque and overhears violent rhetoric from Faisal Rahman (Arif Zakaria). He reports this to the FBI but there is no response at that moment. Later, while waiting in a crowd to meet President Bush and repeating again and again, "my name is Khan and I am not a terrorist," Rizwan is arrested and placed in a prison by police who misinterpret his statement.While in the prison he is tortured as a terrorist suspect and meets the psychiatrist Radha (Sheetal Menon) who believes he is innocent. He is later released after a media campaign by two Indian student reporters Raj (Arjun Mathur) and Komal (Sugandha Garg) and Bobby Ahuja (Parvin Dabas) prove his innocence by unearthing his attempts to inform the FBI about Faisal Rahman. After his release, he returns to hurricane-hit Georgia to help Mama Jenny and her son. His efforts attract media attention and numerous Muslims come to help as well. At the same time, Reese confesses to Mandira and reveals the identity of the boys who beat up Sam. She informs Detective Garcia (Benny Nieves) who has been assisting her on the case.After they are brought to justice, she joins Rizwan in Georgia. At the moment she arrives, Rizwan is stabbed by a follower of Faisal Rahman and is rushed to the hospital. With Mandira's help, he survives and meets President-elect Barack Obama (Christopher B. Duncan) who tells him: "Your name is Khan and you are not a terrorist."
    

My Name Is Khan


            The film starts out on a rainy night with a conversation between four cops in a police van, patrolling the streets of Mumbai. A car narrowly misses colliding into them on the road, brakes and then continues on towards a house with iron gates. A man in a jacket gets out from the car, heads towards the garage and opens the roller shutter door when he is shot from behind multiple times. At the same time, the cops in the van receive an alert on the radio that gunshots have been heard somewhere in the vicinity and they ask the driver to head towards the location of the gunshots.The entire movie is then shown as a flashback, building up to the present shooting, and scene of the cops in the van.The story is about a gang of five that run a gambling club and conduct other underhand deals. The five members are Vikram (Neil Nitin Mukesh), Seshadri (Dharmendra), Shardul (Zakir Hussain), Prakash (Vinay Pathak) and Shiva (Dayanand Shetty). When one of Seshadri's police contacts from Bengaluru, Kalyan (Govind Namdeo) informs him, on the phone about "French furniture" (code word for drugs) worth Rs. 5 crore that he can offer him for Rs. 2.5 crore, Seshadri calls for all 5 members to contribute Rs. 50 lacs each to set the deal in motion. Based on Shardul's promise of being able to sell the furniture for more than Rs. 5 crore, each member anticipates a profit of a further Rs. 50 lacs each, at least.They agree that Shiva is to take the money to Bengaluru by train, meet Kalyan, make the exchange and return on the same train. Vikram, who is dating Shardul's wife Mini (Rimi Sen) and desperately wants to emigrate to Canada with her, plans to steal the money from Shiva in the train by using chloroform to make him unconscious. In the pretext of going to Goa for business work, he goes about his plot, driving to Pune (where he uses the name Johnny G to check into hotel) then takes a flight to Goa. In Goa, he meets advocate Gomes (Raj Tilak) who is Seshadri's friend, to get his work done and to serve as an alibi later, if required. He makes sure the work is half done, flies back to Mumbai and checks-in to a hotel before boarding the train that Shiva takes, the train to Bengaluru en route Pune. But plans go wrong and Vikram ends up killing Shiva who unmasks him before going unconscious. Now Sheshadri, Kalyan, Prakash and Shardul one-by-one, find out Vikram's truth and are killed by him in cold blood. Finally, Vikram is killed by Prakash's wife, Varsha (Ashwini Kalsekar) who mistakes him for Shardul, who she believed was Prakash's killer.
    

Johnny Gaddaar


            Naina Catherine Kapur (Preity Zinta) is an angry young woman, for more than one reason. Her father committed suicide when she needed him the most, leaving his wife Jennifer (Jaya Bachchan) to raise their children all alone. The restaurant Jennifer operates is faltering. Furthermore, Naina's paternal grandmother, Lajjo (Sushma Seth), blames Jennifer for the suicide and refuses to accept Gia, a six-year-old girl whom Jennifer adopted, as her granddaughter, blaming her for bringing bad luck to the family. Naina has to put up with the daily fights that take place in the house as a result. The only factors that redeem her life are the toiling and tolerant Jennifer and Naina's bumbling MBA classmate Rohit (Saif Ali Khan)Aman Mathur (Shahrukh Khan) arrives in Naina's neighbourhood and soon changes everything. Noticing the sadness of his new neighbours, he intervenes. His well-meaning interference in their activities, his revival of their financial condition, and his general optimism soon change their lives for the better. Although Naina is initially reluctant to enjoy Aman's presence as others do and is irritated by his extroverted, overly-enthusiastic attitude, she grows to like him and eventually to love him.Meanwhile, her friend Rohit has fallen in love with her. On Aman's encouragement, he calls Naina for lunch but before he can propose to her, she reveals her love for Aman. Rohit informs Aman about this and leaves shortly for his parents' home. Naina goes to Aman's house where, to stop her from confessing her feelings to him, Aman tells her that he is married to a woman named Priya.Aman, it is revealed, is dying of a severe condition that is progressively weakening his heart. Knowing that his lifespan is limited, he goes through life facilitating friendships and courtship, and urging people to enjoy themselves in the present moment since "tomorrow might never come". His excursions into such altruism eventually lead him to sacrifice his love for Naina and instead playing matchmaker between her and Rohit. After a few weeks of courtship, Naina starts to like Rohit as more than just a friend and accepts his proposal of marriage.The tension within Naina's family also stops when Aman, after intercepting a personal letter addressed to Jennifer, reveals that Gia is Naina's half-sister through their father's extramarital affair. Lajjo finally accepts Gia, and the now-united family wholeheartedly prepare for Rohit and Naina's wedding.As the film progresses, Aman's health deteriorates. One episode of intense excitement nearly kills him. Naina, in a chance encounter, meets Priya, Aman's supposed wife who is actually his doctor. She then realises that Aman had lied about his being married to hide his true condition, and possibly, the fact that he may love her in return. She goes to see Aman, and although he defiantly refuses to admit his true feelings, she finally understands that he loves her as well. Aman convinces her to get married to Rohit anyway, because he will not be alive for much longer. Shortly after Rohit and Naina marry, Aman eventually dies of his weakness, with Rohit and Naina by his side.Sinjan

            Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan) is a aimless young man from Delhi who has no goals for his future. His father (Boman Irani) is a wealthy businessman and his older brother Udesh has joined the family business and is living in the USA. His life revolves around hanging out with his friends at college and spending time with his girlfriend, Romila Dutta (Preity Zinta), also known as Romi, a committed student activist and aspiring journalist.Although Romi parents are fond of Karan, her father notices his lack of direction in life and advises him whatever job he chooses, he should do with sincerity. After Karan leaves, Romi father tells Romi that Karan needs to find a Lakshya (Aim) in his life. Karan's father worries for his future and reminds him of Udesh success as a way of motivating him. While at the local balling alley, Karan and his friends are surprised when their friend Parvesh announces he is going to join the Indian Army and this gets Karan thinking about his own future plans.Karan later watches the Hollywood movie Commando and is inspired to apply to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) as well and is selected to take their written exam. However, Parvesh quickly backs out. Karan's father finds the entrance letter and angrily confronts him for having made such a huge decision without consulting him.Romi encourages a bitter Karan to continue with his aim but urges him not to join the army out of anger at his father. However, Karan remains firm in his decision and expresses his desire to marry Romi in the future to which Romi consents. Karan's father is dubious of his selection and convinces his worried wife that Karan will return in a few days. Karan eventually passes all entry requirements and is selected into the IMA training program-me. However, he's undisciplined and unused to life there and keeps receiving punishments from the training team.Despite his fellow cadets trying to encourage him, an upset Karan runs away from the academy and is forced to confront his parent's low opinion of him. Hurt, he only looks forward to seeing Romi again. However, once Romi learns Karan ran away, she angrily breaks up with him for not respecting his own decision and tells him she never wants to see him again.Devastated, Karan finally comes to terms with his situation and makes his decision. He returns to the IMA, takes his punishment, becomes a focused, disciplined officer cadet and eventually commissions into the Indian Army as a lieutenant. Karan is posted to the 3rd battalion of the Punjab Regiment, commanded by the charismatic Col. Sunil Damle (Amitabh Bachchan). The force is stationed in Kargil. Karan quickly befriends and earns the respect of his fellow battalion members. Later Karan comes home on leave and is heartbroken to find out that Romi is getting engaged to a wealthy executive. But his leave is cut short, and he's recalled to his battalion due to an outbreak of hostilities in Kargil. He reports back to his battalion, where he's promoted to the rank of acting Captain.Col. Damle briefs the officers on the latest situation and reveals that several infiltrators have crossed the Line of Control from Pakistan and occupied mountain peaks on the Indian side of the border. The battalion has been assigned to secure Point 5179, a crucial vantage point dominating the army's main supply line, the National Highway 1D. The battalion decides to attack from the eastern side of the mountain. The first part of the assault is successful. The battalion destroys the enemy's screening units with Karan cited for his bravery in saving another officer's life. Meanwhile, Romi gets stationed to Kargil as a war correspondent, when her fiance forbids her to go there, she breaks off the engagement.Romi goes to Kargil, where she meets the now mature and responsible Karan. Romi begins to fall in love with Karan again. However, Karan remains reluctant to return her feelings as he's still hurt over her previous rejection of him and under the impression that she's engaged. In the second phase of the assault, the battalion attacks the peak of the mountain but fails to capture it due to the strategic advantage and heavy weaponry the Pakistanis have. The unit suffers heavy casualties, and Karan is devastated to lose many of his friends in the attack. Brigadier Puri summons Col. Damle and reluctantly agrees to give him 48 hours to capture the peak. After that time, responsibility for the Point will be given to another battalion.Col. Damle orders a group of 12 officers and soldiers (including Karan) to scale the 1000-foot rock cliff on the western side of the mountain and flank the enemy stronghold. They will be provided with artillery support from the eastern side. Karan realizes that he has finally found his goal in the form of capturing the peak and assures Damle he will succeed, whether he lives or dies. Later, Karan phones his father and reconciles with him, and his father expresses his pride for his son's bravery on the battlefield. Karan also learns of Romi's failed engagement via a letter sent by his friend Ashu and expresses his feelings for her. Romi promises Karan she will wait for him whether he returns or not.The unit sets off on their mission, and while moving through a grass field toward the rock cliff, they come under fire. The group discovers a Pakistani mortar unit in the area and destroys it but loses their commanding officer and several soldiers. The team's radios are also damaged, so they cannot communicate with battalion HQ. Out of the initial 12, only six remain.They decide to continue with the mission. They successfully scale the cliff and attack the Pakistani position during the night. Their assault is successful although Karan is wounded, and the team loses three more men. The next morning, Karan limps to the peak, where he plants the Indian flag and fires a flare, signaling to an ecstatic Col. Damle that they have captured the peak.The film ends with Karan leaving a military hospital and reuniting with his parents, and his father proudly embraces him. Karan's father then reveals that Romi has also arrived to see Karan.He walks over to a smiling Romi and she asks what's next now he has accomplished his aim. Karan states he has another Lakshya, which is Romi, and they happily embrace each other.

            Siddharth "Sid" Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor) is the spoiled, carefree son of wealthy businessman Ram Mehra (Anupam Kher). A resident of Bombay, his only interest is to have fun with friends and to spend his father's money. Thus, he spends little time at college and is not prepared for the exit exams. His father however, not being aware of this fact, tells Sid it is time to join his company, which Sid reluctantly does only after his father tempts him with the promise of a new car.
Meanwhile, Sid meets Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma) a woman from Calcutta, who is an aspiring writer. On their first meeting, they go out on a walk along the streets of Bombay. Sid shows her the city and takes her to Marine Drive by the sea. Sid tells her that one of the fascinating things of being in Bombay is its luscious monsoon. They seem to strike a chord instantly and a friendship ensues. Sid helps her to find (and furnish) her own apartment. She also lands a job with Mumbai Beat, (based on Time Out! Mumbai)[1] a hip magazine run by the handsome, sophisticated editor-in-chief Kabir (Rahul Khanna). On the eve of her 27th birthday Aisha invites Sid to her place because she does not want to be alone. When Sid tentatively explores moving their relationship beyond friendship, he finds that Aisha perceives him as boyish and immature. Despite feeling hurt, he maintains his friendship with her.
Their relationship intensifies when the exam results come out and Sid finds that he failed. His failure leads to a family fight that ends with him moving out of the house. With nowhere to go, Sid (who has never been on his own) asks Aisha if he can stay with her. Aisha is initially happy to have the company (although she clarifies that his stay is purely platonic). Eventually, however, Sid's bad habits revive themselves as he leaves her place a mess and makes the kind of demands on her that he is used to making on everyone. When she finds he has not eaten all day, Aisha is amused by the fact that Sid cannot cook and does not know how to feed himself. Over time, Sid learns that to survive in the world he has to begin cooking and cleaning. He has also realized he must work and Aisha helps him become a photography intern at the magazine she works for.
Aisha who had a crush on her boss, editor in chief Kabir, is ecstatic when he selects her article for the magazine and also asks her out on a live jazz performance. However, as she goes out with him, she realizes she does not much in common with Kabir. Meanwhile, she slowly realizes her feelings toward Sid and understands she is in love with him.
As Sid begins working, he finds meaning in life and realizes that there are more options than working in a standard corporate environment. He also begins to see for the first time how his behavior has hurt everyone he loves and that he needs to change his ways. After he is hired as full-time staff and receives his first pay check, he confronts his father. They reconcile and Sid's father asks him to come home. Sid, who often feels a burden to Aisha, tells her that he won't be dependent on her charity anymore and expects her to be thrilled. He doesn't realize that Aisha has fallen in love with him and thus is furious to hear that he is leaving. Their departure is a hostile one and Sid leaves without resolution.
When Sid returns home from Aisha's place, he thinks constantly of her. However, he remembers that she had told him they can only be friends and so he does not consider that she might share his feelings. When the latest issue of Mumbai Beat arrives, Sid reads Aisha's column and is startled to discover that it is about her feelings for him. As rain starts pouring, he rushes to meet her at the same beach where they had sat the very first day they met. Sid expresses his love for her and the two embrace.

            Don (Shahrukh Khan) is a ruthless criminal, wanted by police in many countries. DCP D'Silva (Boman Irani) and Detective Malik (Om Puri) are two cops who will do anything to capture Don. Don soon brutally murders one of his own men Ramesh (Diwakar Pundir) as well as his fiance Kamini (Kareena Kapoor). By doing so, Don makes an enemy out of Ramesh's sister Roma (Priyanka Chopra) who swears to kill Don no matter what it takes.Don is soon injured in a police pursuit and is admitted to hospital in a coma. Roma attempts to kill Vijay, but stops when she learns about D'Silva's plan.During a police raid, Vijay and the gang members are all arrested by Malik. During the raid, D'Silva is killed. One day, on his way home from a school football match, Sikandar finds a gun lying on the path. Despite admonishments by his newly made school friend, the 14-year-old Nasreen, Sikandar picks up the gun, and thus begins a journey into the darker side of his nature. The quiet yet strong Nasreen becomes Sikandar's conscience keeper. She tries to dissuade him from giving in to the lure of the gun. However, all is not what it seems. Sikandar gets embroiled further and further in situations beyond his control, and people get killed. At first it seems that the happenings occurring alongside Sikandar's predicament are not connected. But, as layer upon layer unravels, it becomes clear that Sikandar is the innocent victim in a game being played out between the militants, the army, the peace-bartering politicians and the religious heads of the little Kashmiri town.             Following the Mandal Commission report and the Supreme Court of India's decision to maintain a 27 percent reservation for Dalits and lower/backward castes, right-winged political parties organize protests. The Principal of Shakuntala Thakral Mahavidyalal, a non-government college which is exempt from this mandate, gets the limelight when it's Principal, Prabhakar Anand, apparently discriminates against upper caste students and endorses the decision - much to the ire of the trustees as well as the newly appointed Vice-Principal Mithilesh Singh, who has invested Rs.1200 Crores in private coaching classes. Prabhakar refuses to change his stand and ends up tendering his resignation, taking his family, consisting of his wife, Kavita and daughter, Poorbi, to live near Shambhu Yadav's Tabela after they find their family home has been taken over by Mithilesh's coaching classes. Attempts to evict the coaching class staff will not only be in vain but also end up frustrating and alienating Prabhakar from his friends and family so much so that he will be blamed by everyone - including the leader of the Dalits, Neta Bhishamber. Then he gets summoned by the local police when media reports show that he had instigated Deepak Kumar, one of his pupils, to vandalize the premises of the coaching class and threaten it's staff. But things will turn even worse after the local authorities decide to demolish the Tabela - which will end up rendering the family homeless.
