Sean Thomas, the eldest child of an Electrician and Airline Industry Worker, was born Sean Thomas Danley in Los Angeles, California on October 7, 1973. His creative spirit was apparent early on; appearing in numerous school musicals and stage plays. Raised in Inglewood and South Central L.A., his parents separated when he was eleven and his mother left the family to relocate to her hometown of Chicago when Sean was just twelve. Sean and his two younger siblings were raised by their father, who although a blue-collar tradesman, held a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and had a profound love of history and literature. Sean and his siblings visited their mother in Chicago most summers, but it was Sean's dad who stressed the importance of education and encouraged him to read and write. Although Sean found more joy in writing than in reading, his father provided the necessary constructive criticism to help him better his writings as a child.Sean's father enrolled him in a local acting school and he soon appeared as an extra in the 1987 PBS Film, "The Mighty Pawns," alongside Alfonso Ribiero and the late Paul Winfield and Rosalind Cash. In the eighth grade, Sean was awarded an academic scholarship by the American Legion's Jackie Robinson Post 252 located in the Crenshaw-Slauson District. Following a youth job training course offered by the Los Angeles Urban League, Sean landed his first after school job at just fifteen years old; a volunteer File Clerk for California Senator turned U.S. Representative, Diane Watson. After completing a video production class in his sophomore year, Sean enrolled in a video production workshop on Saturdays at a cable station in Carson,California. Later that year, Sean's father remarried a Los Angeles School Teacher. In his junior year, Sean was again recognized by the American Legion and chosen as one of only two students from Crenshaw High to participate as a delegate in the prestigious annual California Boys State Program. After graduating from Crenshaw High School in 1991, Sean attended San Diego State University where he admittedly spent more time partying than studying. He was expelled after his freshman year, but his expulsion would prove to be a blessing in disguise. After writing a persuasive letter to the Dean of Academics, Sean was readmitted and only then did he realize the power of his writing ability. But instead of returning to SDSU, Sean reunited with his mother in Chicago and studied Music Business Management and Audio Engineering at Columbia College. He returned to Los Angeles in 1996 and worked briefly under the tutelage of renowned Sound Designer/Composer, Frank Serafine at Serafine Studios in Venice, California. Soon after, he landed an internship in the Digital Post Production Department at Sony Pictures Studios, where his desire to write screenplays would come to light. Unfortunately, he didn't know where to begin, so during a sound editing session at Sony, Sean pitched his very first screenplay idea to a UCLA Graduate Film Student and budding director named Aion Veile, who encouraged him to take screenwriting courses at UCLA Extension. At UCLA, a professor would warn students that "they had a better chance at winning the lottery than becoming credited, working screenwriters." And being the only African-American in class, Sean knew his odds were even less favorable than his classmates. Still undeterred, Sean joined of the Organization of Black Screenwriters to further develop his writing skills and network with other aspiring writers. He went on to develop several feature film scripts, television specs and two short films. Sean holds a Bachelor of Information Technology Degree from American Intercontinental University and is the founder of Sirod Media Group, a publishing and production company. In 2012, the company released Sean's debut book; a memoir entitled, "The Avocado Tree," based on his adolescent trials and tribulations surrounding his parents' divorce, the abandonment of his mother and family dysfunction. - IMDb Mini Biography By: AAC TV
