
            Thanigaivelu was a sub inspector in J11
police station. He was a nice guy but was
not the exact personification of the perfect
officer. He never asked for bribes but never
refused if offered. He believed punishment
was a brutal consequence and that a person
should be punished only if the crime was
unpardonable.Savitri was a gypsy tribal living with her
huge family. She had a 18 year old daughter
Chelli. One day when Chelli was returning
after selling beads at the beach, a group of
guys kidnap the girl. When Chelli doesn't
reach home, Savitri panics and soon it is
established that the girl is missing.The entire gypsy family flock the station
and they are not treated well by the
constables who asks them dirty questions.
Finally, Thanigaivelu gets a chance to meetthem and he listens to their plight and feels
sorry for them. He does a basic inquiry but
he does not find the girl. He tells Savitri and
her husband Dilli that when they get
information about the girl he will definitely
tell them.Soon Savitri realizes that time is running
out and Thanigai also feels that Savitri is
following him everywhere. One day he
confronts her and tells her not to test his
patience. She says time is running out but
he tells her he can do nothing about it. She
offers him money and a little bit gold
collected from her tribe but he pays no heed
to her. She goes to the extent of offering
herself to him and he rebukes her.The next day she comes to the police station
and gives him a timepiece. She tells him
time is running out and he tells her again
nothing can be done and this time she tells
him it is not Chelli's time but his own. He
has only 24 hours to find the girl and every
hour he wastes, he will face an incident that
will scar him emotionally. He realizes that
as time inches forward, he steps forwards
towards his own death. As she leaves he
looks at the clock, which is ticking
backwards. He now realizes that the game is
that he must find Chelli before it's too late,
for himself.
