Bodyguard: A New Beginning

            The top European security agency VME-Vivere military est or To Live is to Fight- is conducting a mission of securing a package, that is, a person of value. They experience some loss of life among the team members. They return to base and the heads of the agency, namely, Gus and his boss Commander Hans Sturm consider retiring and selling the company. They close a deal and they get a lot of money from the sale. The rest of their team retire as well and they go their separate ways.Commander Hans and Gus stay in touch. They attend a party together and they get intoxicated. In the meantime, they meet a woman whose name is Michaela. Both of them try to get her attention. However, it is the older man Hans who seems to be Michaela's choice. However, since Hans is drunk, he had to go home. Michaela bids him goodbye.
The story goes forward some eight years later where we find out that Michaela and Hans had tied the knot. Gus also is still around and goes to visit Hans with his girlfriend. There Michaela reveals her difficulty with Hans who seems to be distant and worried about something. She asks Gus to talk to him. He does and is told that Hans feels he is being watched. Gus is amused at his former soldier boss but is distracted to going home since his girlfriend wanted to leave already. That night the family is assaulted. Hans is made to witness the rape and murder of his wife by armed hooded men. Annika their daughter is also abducted.
Gus finds out about his friend's unfortunate experience and he promises to get the ones responsible. He assembles a team with his former colleagues in the VME. The hardest to get was Doc who became a Franciscan friar. But he also decided to help Gus out of loyalty to their former commander. They set up command center and set out to investigate the case.
They start with the CTV tapes that caught the rapist in the act of violating Michaela. They zero in on the tattoo on his neck. They locate the tattooist and force him to reveal who is was he worked on for the tattoo. It turns out to be his brother. They go for him and there is a fight between Gus' team and the men in the work area of the tattoo guy in the CTV. They subdue them and work on one to reveal who they are working for. They coerce him by hanging him from the building and threatening him to drop him to the street far below.
Overseeing the entire operation was Julia who acts as a sniper in another building. Apparently, she shoots at Rodowsky who releases their man to fall to his death. They pursue the apparently escaping Julia who later claims she was running after the hooded man who knocked her out and shot at Rodowsky.
We find out that Julia and Doc are close. She was the one who convinced him to leave the Franciscans and join the team. They because intimate with each other. He is then protective of her when in custody by her own team. Gus suspects her but Doc gets the chance to get info out of her. She is consistent with her tale of feeling sick while on overseeing duty and of getting knocked out for a while by someone who did the shooting. Doc verifies the truth but listening to her heart with a stethoscope.
Gus continues to pursue leads and is lad to an office. Meanwhile, armed hooded men locate their command center and take out the colleagues of Gus. Gus and Doc fend off an attack when they assault the office of the new owner of the VME. Doc gets the office assistant to talk under extreme torture. The name he let out was the new owner of VME. They attack him at his home and demand where Annika is being held captive by threatening him to slit his daughter's throat.
He leads them to a mansion. it turns out to be Commander Hans' place. All is a shock as Gus and Doc fight their way up the mansion to get to Hans and find Annika. Apparently Doc is killed by a bullet from Hans' handgun. Gus is left to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Gus finds Hans in a living room with Annika watching cartoons on a computer with Hans pointing his gun at her. Gus demands an explanation. Hans reveals his resentment for Gus who got to sleep with Michaela after that party they got drunk in. On top of that, Annika, who he had thought to be his daughter turns out to be Gus's. When he married Michaela she was already carrying Gus's baby. And for eight years he suffered this humiliating truth. He wanted to get back at Michaela and Gus and came up with this wild goose chase hiring his previous security company to do the job. In the fight that ensued, Doc reappears and helps Gus in fighting Hans who got the advantage over Gus after stabbing him on the side. Gus finally kills Hans.
