It wasn't until his first high school play that it all "clicked." In the most rebellious act for a teenager growing up in Pittsburgh, PA, Matt quit the football team, because practices clashed with rehearsals. While it wasn't something those around him understood or could support, he knew this was the path he wanted to follow.Matt did every play and musical in high school. When he graduated high school, he tried to compromise with his blue-collar family's wishes, and went to college to become a music teacher. That lasted all of three semesters before he began to explore Pittsburgh's rich, internationally-recognized theatre scene and burgeoning film community.After building a resume of local and regional theatre, student and indie films, and regional commercials, Matt made the leap for Los Angeles, arriving in 2006. He slept on an air mattress on the kitchen floor of his friend's apartment in MacArthur Park until he could get his footing. He started doing theatre, working some background, and auditioning for independent films. His first leading role was in a feature film on which he was made union.He quickly established himself as an actor who would immerse himself in his work, putting his blue-collar work ethic to practice. His hard work and determination led to a growing list of supporting and lead roles in numerous feature films, as well as co-starring and guest starring roles on television. Matt has also been recognized with numerous nominations and awards for the excellence of his work.Matt's interest in telling stories and creating change through art has led him to producing. He's produced several award-winning films, which have landed distribution deals. Acting hasn't taken a back seat to producing; Matt often appears in the films he produces.
