
            On 9 March 1993 a small-time thug, Gul Mohammed, is detained at the Nav Pada police station and confesses to a conspiracy underway to bomb major locations around the city. The police dismiss his confession and, three days later, Bombay is torn apart by a series of explosions leaving 257 dead and close to 1,400 injured. Investigators discover that the bombs were made of RDX, smuggled into the city with the aid of customs officials and the border police.In turn, the film traces the motive for the blasts to the Bombay riots, the bloody warring between the Hindu and Muslim communities from December 1992 to January 1993, which left over 1500 people dead. The Bombay riots were an unprecedented outburst of violence and abuse, resulting in enormous emotional trauma and property loss. Tiger Memon (Pavan Malhotra) is an underworld don whose office is burnt to cinders during the riots. The suffering of the Muslim minorities in the riots incites a meeting of underworld leaders in Dubai, who then take it on themselves to seek retribution. Tiger Bhai (as Tiger Memon is called) one of the chief inflamed suggests an attack on Bombay as the strongest message of retaliation, thus leading to Black Friday 12 March 1993.Asgar Muqadam, Tiger Memon's secretary is arrested on 14 March 1993. He is beaten till he provides whatever information he has about the bomb blasts and that initiates a full police inquiry. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Maria (Kay Kay Menon) is put in charge of the case. The next piece in the puzzle is the arrest of Badshah Khan (Aditya Shrivastava), one of the henchmen who had left Bombay and gone into hiding, who was found by the police on 10 May 1993.After the blast, the accomplices in the crime are forced to lead a life of anonymity and secrecy as it becomes evident that Mumbai police have started picking up the suspects one by one. To make matters worse, their passports seem to have been destroyed at the behest of Tiger Memon. In spite of assurances to the contrary, the high command blatantly refuses any help to them once the bombings have materialized. Tired of being let down by his own people and without a place to hide, Badshah Khan realizes that there is no justification for his acts and decides to become a police witness. On 4 November 1993, the police file a charge sheet against 189 accused. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) takes over the case.Then on 5 August 1994, Tiger's brother, Yaqub Memon, willingly turns himself in to the authorities. In a candid Newstrack interview on national television Yaqub states that it was Tiger and his underworld associates who orchestrated the conspiracy.

Not only does he learn that security forces have detained his father for harboring militants, but that his mother is in a relationship with his very own uncle. Intense drama follows between mother and son as both struggle to come to terms with news of his fathers death. Soon Haider learns that his uncle is responsible for the gruesome murder, what follows is his journey to avenge his fathers death.

            Rahul (Sharman Joshi) is one such young man with dreams. Working as a call center executive in a BPO in Mumbai. He silently loves Neha (Kangana Ranaut), A smart young woman who has made it up the ranks in a very short time. Hard work is not her only secret. She has done it only because her boss, Ranjeet loves her and is willing to shower her with gifts and opportunities, only if she is willing.In his 30s, Ranjeet (Kay Kay Menon) is married to Shikha (Shilpa Shetty) with a 6 year old daughter. Shikha is very well educated and was a better student than Ranjeet. She is also a talented dancer. They decided that she should stay back at home and take care of the house and the kid. So Ranjeet ventured out on his quest for money and success and forgot his family somewhere on the way. Bitterness and boredom crept into their relationship. Soon, he found solace and a fresh lease on life in Neha.Neglected by an indifferent husband and bogged down by family chores, Shikha is soon attracted to a maverick Akash. A loser and a rebel without a cause, Akash (Shiney Ahuja) is a struggling theatre artist whose wife divorces him because she cannot stand his failures anymore. Akash and Shikha's love blossoms and she almost crosses her limits that she has so fervently guarded all these years.Amol (Dharmendra) is a 70 year old man who's returned to India after 40 years to spend last few years of his life with his first love, Shivani (Nafisa Ali). This lady, who is Shikha's dance teacher, lives in an old age home and gives moral strength to Shikha.Shikha's sister and Neha's room-mate, Shruti (Konkona Sen Sharma) works in at Radio Mirchi. as a producer. She is a virgin at the age of 28 and is desperate to get married. She is dreamy eyed about her RJ, Wishy K. Her boss hooks her up with Wishy K. She also meets Monty (Irfan Khan) through a matrimonial site, but she is unimpressed by the straight-forward and socially inept Monty. When Monty stares at her, she is incensed. Monty however, likes her and is ready to marry her. Her affair with Wishy K blossoms.Rahul devises a novel strategy to step up the ladder of success. Most of the men in his office look for places to take their mistresses, girlfriends or prostitutes. He provides the perfect place to release their libido. His apartment. The cost? A recommendation for his out of turn promotion. Even Ranjeet gets the key and takes Neha to the apartment.Amidst one of their escapades Neha asks Ranjeet about their future. A commitment? Ranjeet makes it clear that she should not even think of a commitment. He insults her and leaves. She tries to commit suicide. Rahul discovers her in his apartment and takes care of her. They share some loving moments, come closer but still she's unsure about him.Shruti discovers that Wishy K is gay. She leaves the job and joins a new job where she meets Monty. Slowly, she sees the warm and caring person that Monty is and falls in love with him. She proposes to Monty at his wedding. Meanwhile the cat is let out of the bag when Shruti comes to know about Ranjeet and Neha. Ranjeet panics and confessed to Shikha about his relationship with Neha. An already guilt-stricken Shikha cannot hold it in any longer and tells him about her affair with Akash. Ironically, Ranjeet is shocked and angry, and decides to leave his wife. Shivani dies. Amol regrets the decision to leave Shivani 40 years back, stressing the importance of love to Shikha and Shruti. Meanwhile Akash decides to leave the country and invites Shikha to join him. On the other hand, Rahul is disillusioned with the way the metro has treated him and takes the bold step of resigning and decides to leave town. Neha realizes that Rahul really loves her, and chases him to the station. When Neha leaves Ranjeet, he immediately switches tracks and returns to Shikha, who is just about to leave for the station to see Akash.Neha chases Rahul. Monty chases Shruti. Shikha comes to the station but evidently not to accompany him. She wishes Akash good luck, tells him that she will miss him, and goes back home, back to Ranjeet. They all meet or cross each other at the railway station. And go ahead on their own paths. With lives they wanted. Or whatever the metro had destined for them.While the credits roll, we are shown that Akash still roams the streets of Mumbai, probably looking for a job. Shikha sees him and seems to have feelings for him, but has chosen her daughter's happiness over her own. Amol is leading the remainder of his life missing Shivani, but he realizes that he will always have the sweet moments that he and Shivani had togehter. Rahul has finally fulfilled his father's dream of owning a restaurant and is living happily with Neha. Shruti and Monty are happily married and have a kid- Monty's eye still wanders but Shruti has learnt to take it it in her stride

            After having a bitter disagreement with his friend and manager Jehangir Khan (Kay Kay Menon) about the latter's blatant abuse of power and influence to win a dance competition called "Dance Dil Se" for his team JDC (Jehangir Dance Company), the choreographer of the dance company, Vishnu (Prabhu Deva), quits his job. At first he wants to return home to Chennai, but his friend Gopi (Ganesh Acharya) asks him to stay in Mumbai with him. Vishnu observes several young men using parkour to evade the police. They turn out to be proteges of Gopi, but despite their obvious raw talent, they lack the discipline required to become serious artists; they demonstrate this disastrously at a local event for a politician, wherein they set the stage on fire. After witnessing the youngsters showing their dancing abilities at Ganpati Chaturthi against their equally talented rival neighborhood, Vishnu decides to start his own dance group with them ultimately preparing them to compete in "Dance Dil Se". However, the lack of discipline among the dancers and rivalry between the two factions in the group led by D (Dharmesh Yelande) and Rocky (Salman Yusuff Khan) leads to multiple creative and emotional blocks. Initially, only Rocky and his gang are willing to attend the free classes, but soon D and his friends gravitate towards the studio.They are soon joined by Chandu (Punit Pathak), a troubled but extraordinarily talented man suffering from a drug addiction, Shaina (Noorin Sha), a "bar dancer", and Rhea (Lauren Gottlieb), a Westerner who was JDC's star dancer until Jehangir tried to sexually assault her during a "private instruction". Rhea immediately becomes the new star of the company. Though the students are initially skeptical of Shaina because of her profession. Chandu demonstrates a great deal of respect for Shaina and defends her in front of the class despite teasing from his peers. The pair quickly fall for one another, leaving quite a few of the boys heartbroken.Despite repeated pleas for peace in the studio, the two main gangs continue to clash, driving Vishnu to his wit's end. However, the students seem to improve and as a reward, he gives them money to buy new speakers, but they nearly lose it all when Rhea takes them to an elite dance club where they challenge the resident champions, a professional dance crew called "Fictitious Crew". Vishnu arrives at the last minute and wins back the money, but while his students gain new respect for him he is furious with them. After some hard apologizing, he forgives them and they return to class with greater discipline and drive, only to suddenly be thrown out on the street after D's father calls the cops. During all of this Rocky and Rhea start to fall for each other whilst D burns with jealousy.The community complains that their children should not be mixing in such a way and only through an impromptu dance performance are the youth able to convince their families of the importance of their talent. Only D's conservative and orthodox father refused to accept that his son desires to be a dancer.The crew head to Dance Dil Se and audition, but when Rocky and D fight onstage for Rhea, their chances of appearing on the show in the first place seems bleak. Jehangir, in a bid to humiliate Vishnu publicly, persuades the judges to take the "Dhongri Dance Revolution" crew on as a "comedy act". Faced with ridicule and the idea that they are a joke and not true dancers, Vishnu asks Rocky and D to do a step that requires a great deal of trust from both, but they cannot muster the trust to manage it. Vishnu has them choose the people they would trust to perform the step with, but then tricks both dancers by blindfolding them and having them attempt it again; this time, they are successful. Vishnu then states that unless the two manage to do the step without blindfolds none of the dancers would be allowed to go home for the night. Several abortive and unsuccessful attempts later D and Rocky take a break and Chandu talks to D and tells him about Bhavana's secret love for D. Bhavana and D get together, D completes the move successfully with Rocky, and the two factions begin to trust each other and work together.Before the semifinals, Chandu prepares to propose to Shaina, but he meets his old drug dealer on the street. Now completely free from the hold of drugs he refuses to fall back into that world, but the dealer, irritated, tosses the ring intended for Shaina at him and it falls into the street. As he retrieves it, Chandu is hit by a truck and killed, leaving the team devastated. Shaina, though barely able to stand from grief, becomes the centerpiece of the team's semifinal routine, in which they express the loss of their friend, bringing audience members to tears. The team and the community come together to cremate Chandu, and DDR resolves to continue in the competition in Chandu's memory. At the finals, Jehangir pulls a dirty trick: his informant Mayur (a performer in DDR but, tempted by Jehangir's offer of a main lead role in JDC began to feed information to the opposition) leads JDC's dancers to copy DDR's choreography and performance concept. Faced with losing, DDR crafts a new routine on the spot, based around Lord Ganesha. Their heartfelt and spontaneous performance reminds the cold-hearted Jehangir why he and Vishnu started JDC in the first place and he is humbled. The DDR crew are rewarded with thunderous applause and victory in the competition.

            The movie is set in Chambal in Madhya Pradesh, India, a town notoriously famous for dacoits and where the possession of a gun made you famous. The story begins at Shambhu Singh's (Jackie Shroff) daughter's wedding when Kadak Singh (Kay Kay Singh) kidnaps her for Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi), a sleazy local politician that he serves. Being the first man in power for the possession of a fine rifle in the town, Shambu Singh accidentally shoots his own daughter in an attempt to save her. After being arrested, Shambu Singh spends his time in jail plotting to avenge his daughter. The town falls in the hands of Tripathi who takes political control since Shambu was now out of the way. Assisted by his faithful sidekick Kadak Singh, he terrifies the town folk with rape, murder and shootings.Radhe (Jimmy Sheirgill ), who lives in Chambal, idolizes Kadak Singh, but hates Tripathi who rapes and kills his favourite teacher, Rosy (Mahie Gill). Kadak also develops a certain respect for the boy when he saves him from the police and over time even starts to treat him like a brother.Years later, Raadhe's marriage gets fixed with the local Thakur's daughter, Lalli (Shriya Saran). Their marriage is not happy at first because of Lalli's past mistakes but they get over the hurdle and eventually fall in love with each other. Things are great for a while. Kadak offers Raadhe a good job and Raadhe gets to work for his idol.But the good times end when Tripathi starts to eye Lalli and when Raadhe protests, orders Kadak to kill Raadhe and bring Lalli to him. Kadak, now caught between his love for the boy and his duty to his boss tries to reason with both of them. Having failed, he orders his men to kidnap Lalli and kill Raadhe with a heavy heart. Kadak's men bury Raadhe alive and lock Lalli up in a room to await Tripathi's pleasure. That's when Shambu Singh jumps back into the scene and rescues Raadhe from his grave.Shambu, heart filled with vengeance and Raadhe in an attempt to save his trapped bride attack Tripathi's residence. Shambu dies in the attack but not before he kills Kadak having finally avenged his daughter's death. Raadhe thrashes up Tripathi killing him and saving Lalli from his clutches. The story ends with Raadhe and Lalli leaving Chambal for good.
