Jenna-Louise Coleman (born 27 April 1986), professionally known as Jenna Coleman, is an English actress and model. Coleman was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, and began her acting career at an early age as a member of a theatre company called In Yer Space. She attended Arnold School, where she was head girl. While at school, Coleman was a member of the theatre company In Yer Space, with which she performed in the play Crystal Clear as Thomasina at the Edinburgh Festival. She won an award for her performance, and the play was also received favorably. At age 11, she won a part in the play Summer Holiday, through an open audition in her hometown.Jenna has started in many plays such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1999) as Snow White, The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband (2003) as Laura, High School Productions (2000) as Sarah, Crystal Clear (2004) as Thomasina, Summer Holiday (1998) as Bridemaid.Jenna starred in a theatre adaption of Jack and the Beanstalk alongside Nigel Havers. Jenna played the role of Princess Apricot.Coleman's first professional role came in 2005, at age 19 while auditioning for drama schools in 2005, she was chosen to play Jasmine Thomas in Emmerdale Farm (1972) playing a troublesome, murderous young woman, Jasmine. Playing the role for three years exposed her to a large audience in the United Kingdom and brought her growing media attention;. She received critical acclaim for her performance and was nominated for the Most Popular Newcomer award at the The National Television Awards (2006). She also was nominated for several British Soap Awards. She later scored roles in BBC television productions, including the dramas Waterloo Road (2006), playing another bothersome girl, Lindsay James; Room at the Top (2012), based on the novel by John Braine; and Doctor Who (2005).
