David Preston was born in Santa Monica, California, to Harriet, a Philadelphia-born writer, and Joel Preston, a Brooklyn-born film publicist. An avid skateboarder and surfer, David spent most of his youth at the beach with his buddies riding waves or skating backyard ramps and empty pools in Hollywood where he grew up. A graduate of Fairfax High School, David wasn't really sure what was next for him. One day while visiting his Dad on set, he was approached by a casting director to be a stand-in for one of the lead actors for an upcoming film. David jumped at the chance and ended up working on Zapped! (1982) for the whole summer. He loved the experience so much, especially watching the actors doing their thing that it became clear that acting was what he wanted to pursue. His Dad introduced him to Nina Foch who became David's first acting teacher. He went on to study with William Traylor and Peggy Feury at the Loft Studio. He earned his first TV gig as series regular Murph the Surf on The New Gidget (1986) and worked steadily for the next several years appearing on television and films including the cult-favorite Max Headroom (1987) and Harold Becker's The Boost (1988) before taking some time away from the business to explore other creative interests. With a renewed sense of enthusiasm David returned to acting in 2010 and began studying with Jeffrey Marcus. Within the year he was on stage playing Carlson in Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men and Bob Ewell in Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird to very positive reviews including James Petrillo's of the L.A. Times observing, "David Preston's Carlson looks like he just stepped out of a vintage western from decades ago" and Frances Nicholson's of Stage Struck Review commenting, "The nasty and vindictive Bob Ewell (played by an enthusiastically villainous David Preston) sparks with a vicious energy." David continued to hone his craft on stage creating diverse characters in theatre productions such as the Los Angeles Premier of Dennis Lehane's Coronado playing the sociopath Bobby's Father and then as Dr. Adam Stanton in All The King's Men, Armen in Rant! (Part Deux), Eddie in Valentine Triage and Prince Escalus in Romeo & Juliet. Most recently, he appeared in the World Premier of Fugu, the true story of 6,000 Lithuanian Jewish refugees in Kobe, Japan during WWII portraying the infamous SS Colonel Josef Albert Meisinger where reviewer Joe Straw noted, "Preston's work is exceptional and he brings a dark presence to the man who has been called in real life "The Butcher of Warsaw."On television, David most recently appeared on Hawaii Five-0 (2010) as Jack Teague on the action-packed episode Hawaii Five-0: Ke Kanaka I Ha'ule Mai Ka Lewa Mai (2018), as Agent Wilson on Syfy's Stormageddon (2015) and as Jeremy on Higher Power (2018) from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.David has also starred in numerous short films including the father-daughter redemption drama Nightfall (2019) and the upcoming thriller The Big Five (2019) playing a reclusive trophy hunter. - IMDb Mini Biography By: The Bodhi Group
