With characters freely inspired in the universe of the English writer Jane Austen, the series is a romantic story that takes place in the fictional locality of Vale do Café, in the early twentieth century.

Maria de Déa, Lampião's companion and first woman in the Cangaço, is a fearless young woman who dares to have a voice in a group of outlaws. In a life of escapes and armed disputes, Maria faces a pregnancy and is subdued to the harshest law of the Cangaço: handing over her baby to be raised by someone else. She begins to live between life in the group and the hopeless desire to raise her daughter.

In 1996, during one of the biggest tropical storms ever to hit Rio de Janeiro, Ana and her firefighter team must evacuate a nursing home at risk of collapsing — but they soon discover the place’s mysterious residents have other plans with the arrival of the rain.
